TAMAF members came together for coffee over ZOOM to learn about TAMA’s latest exhibition and explore the transformative power of light in Muhammad Abo Salme's first museum exhibition with Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s Curator of Contemporary Art Shahar Molcho.
Cascade, installed in the Museum's unique Lightfall space, marks Muhammad Abo Salme's first museum exhibition. Known for his lighting artistry, Abo Salme transforms natural daylight and artificial lighting to create a spectacle that diverges from the actual time of day.
The installation features thousands of meters of metal bead chains reminiscent of military dog tags, symbolizing solidarity with hostages. This dense mass, suspended in mid-air, evokes both distress and wonderment, reflecting the universal human loss from war. Cascade explores this altered perception of time, suggesting a shimmering, light-flooded space that can also feel like a psychological abyss.
